Our first Winter Texan dinner of the season was a great success!
Chris Carl did a wonderful job of keeping us organized and moderating the dinner and raffle. Shannon from First State Bank of Central Texas, and Susan and Pat from Valentine Lakeside kept the raffle ticket sales going. Stacy Leal, of Golden Genie Organization, and her husband, Jose, were such a wonderful help in setting up tables and chairs and breaking them down and storing them after the dinner. Board members Louann Raley, and her husband Dan, Hafdis Gentry, Rick Scrimshire, Teresa Gray and office manager, Darlene Zubkus and her husband Jon, all pitched in and helped the entire night. We also had several board members who conributed raffle items and several of our member businesses conributed raffle items.
First State Bank of Central Texas provided the main entre (chicken tenders along with gravy and beverages and cups for the beverages from Chicken Express). Thank you Shannon Ziese for arranging this.
We had a Chamber "work day" Saturday. Memosas and margaritas made the work a lot easier. The landscaping in the front of the Chamber Office was cut back so the building is now visable. I have had a couple of visitors that have come in today and commented that they did not know this building was here. Kudos to all who gave the Chamber Office a refreshed look.
Our next project is to paint the building to make it brighter and more inviting to our visitors. If you have any suggestions regarding the Chamber Building or the operation of the office, please let me know in the comments space or call the office at 325 -388-6211.
The Chamber Annual General Meeting was held last night at Windchimes at the Village. Renee of Windchimes was instrumental in having a wonderful buffet ready for us. Chamber members, Louann Raley and Hafdis Gentry made sure we had plenty of wine and soft drinks. Thanks to Chuck Lacallade for the yummy margaritas.
The Annual Election of Chamber Directors was held. Incumbents Louann Raley and Hafdis Gentry were re-elected. Susan Patten of Valentine Lakeside Resort and Derek Timmons of Buddies 1 Stop were elected to fill the other two additional open positions.
What a wonderful time everyone had at our Fall Social. I am still hearing comments about what an enjoyable evening it was. Thanks to Dave and Kathy of The Vineyard Bed and Breakfast at Lost Creek Ranch for all their hard work preparing for the event and cooking wonderful food. Our board members, Chelsea, Vivian, Louann, Hafdis and Teresa worked hard to make sure we all had a good time. John Arthur Martinez was the ultimate entertainer as always.
